The Manchester United player who has been key to Paul Pogba’s improved form
Ander Herrera has been key to Paul Pogba’s improved form at Manchester United according to club legend Bryan Robson.
The Frenchman’s performances have vastly improved in the weeks since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho as caretaker manager.
The World Cup winner has explained himself the upturn in his form claiming it is due to the change in tactics employed by the Norwegian.
“I am enjoying playing football it was really difficult with the system and tactics we used to play,” Pogba told Sky Sports after the win against Spurs.
“I like to be more attacking, pressing and play high rather than defending. When I have to defend, I miss my lucidity it is not my best place but when I play there (further forward) with the team I think my position that is when I feel the most comfortable.”
And Robson believes Herrera, who has been playing alongside Pogba and Nemanja Matic in a midfield three, has been crucial in Pogba’s improvement.
“He is benefiting from being allowed to express himself in a more advanced area of the pitch and key to that is the role played by Ander Herrera,” Robson told the Daily Mail.
“I love the energy Herrera brings. He works the park both ways, a little bit like Patrick Vieira used to do at Arsenal, and his discipline alongside Nemanja Matic enables Paul free rein to do his best.
“When I saw Paul last week in Dubai with the United squad, I had a little chat and congratulated him on the birth of his baby. He just seemed so relaxed and easy with things.
“Ole’s knowledge of the person Paul is has helped make him feel loved again. Some world-class players need that.”
