Mourinho reveals the tip of the iceberg, leaving us more curious than ever…
Jose Mourinho has vowed to ‘reveal the truth one day’ after missing out on the Barcelona job in 2008.
The Portuguese spent four years at the Nou Camp, first as an interpreter and then as an assistant coach, with Sir Bobby Robson and Louis van Gaal between 1996 and 2000.
Following Frank Rijkaard’s departure in 2008, club president Joan Laporta wanted a manager to bring some discipline to the club following the decline of a number of Barcelona’s stars, including Ronaldinho.
The Catalan giants ultimately plumped for the internal candidate, Pep Guardiola , who led Barca to historic heights, but Mourinho has vowed to tell his side of the story in the coming decades.
“Maybe I will reveal the truth one day,” the 54-year-old told Telefoot.
“There is something about my career that I want to keep secret. I will tell the truth when I will be really, really, really old.”
